Basic Boating Skills Overview

The aim of this course is to provide a basic practical introduction to boating on the water for those with little or no previous experience.

Conducted in your own boat, this is not a classroom course and all the instructions are done out on the water.

This course is available as a one-on-one training or ladies only.

What We Will Cover

On this one day course you will learn:

Boat checks and preparation
All safety equipment including radios
Trailer work, backing, hooking up etc.
Launch and recovery of your boat
Tying and untying of your boat to a wharf
Basic boat handling
Basic navigation – buoys and beacons
Practical boat handling
How to read and understand a chat or chart plotter
Boating rules and regulations
Correct stowage of equipment
Knots & lines work
Engines & controls

By the end of this course, you will have a basic understanding of how to safely operate your boat. This is a great opportunity for you to spend time with your instructor who will answer all your questions and give you practical guidance, in your own environment and not feel pressured.
